VENEZIA: LIGHT, HELD IN SILK
Italy has drawn painters, poets and dreamers for centuries, chasing a light found nowhere else. Venezia, Armadillo's newest handcrafted offering, translates that light into the depth and sheen of pure silk. Named for a city built on reflection, where water and architecture conspire to keep colour in constant motion, Venezia is Armadillo's first collection made entirely from silk. Hand-knotted by artisans in India into a single, uninterrupted field of colour, its pile reads as grounded yet luminous.

Pure silk is smooth and uniform, absorbing dye with a clarity few other materials can match. That quality informed Venezia's palette of five stocked colourways - Biscuit, Rosewood, Vermillion, Caper and Serpentine - and fifteen custom hues. Reds and yellows like Garnet and Topaz glow; blues and greens including Fjord and Bracken open into unexpected richness; and neutrals such as Marzipan gather an assured complexity of their own. The only embellishment is a fine cotton fringe.
The inspiration traces back to Venetian painting, where light was rendered as something alive on the surface of fabric.

The campaign followed that same light across three settings in Italy: a frescoed palace north of Milan, where faded pigment and time-worn plaster hold decades of shifting light in place; a lived-in villa on Lake Como, where contemporary elegance sits against clear markers of antiquity; and Venice itself, where colour never settles, drifting instead across canals and courtyards. Each location offered a different register of the same light, softening and renewing itself by the hour.
Movement is intrinsic to silk. Venezia's low pile tracks with light and use, deepening and lightening in tone as the day turns and as time passes. It is a rug designed to be lived with, changing in character and easing into a patina the longer it remains in a room.
